Are you willing to complete a background check to volunteer with youth?
PA legislation requires all organizations that have volunteers who come into regular contact with children to have the certifications of volunteers' criminal and child abuse clearances. In order for NBW to be compliant, any volunteers who regularly come into contact with children must submit the following: 1. State Police or Pennsylvania Access To Criminal History (PATCH) clearance (free for volunteers). 2. A Child Abuse Clearance issued by the Department of Public Welfare (free for volunteers). Any volunteer who has resided in Pennsylvania for the last 10 years does not need any further screening or clearances. 3. Any volunteer that has not resided in PA continuously for the last 10 years will need to obtain an additional clearance from the FBI, via a fingerprint check ($22.50 fee). These screenings are mandatory for all volunteers with youth programs. Volunteers may not begin service until completed clearances are on file with NBW. Clearances remain valid for 60 months. NBW will provide you with instructions in obtaining the necessary clearances, but at this time NBW cannot cover the cost of FBI fingerprinting.
